A modern bridal look, a chic contemporary venue, and bold and bright flowers? Yes, please! From choosing to host the wedding at Maketto, a restaurant in the couple’s neighborhood to creating colorful floral installations with personal touches and disco balls, we had an absolute blast crafting this unforgettable Washington, DC restaurant wedding! Because Robin & Luke met while they both worked on Capitol Hill (such a classic DC love story!) we wanted to make sure their wedding day reflected their love for the city – in addition to hosting family & friends in their neighborhood, photos at The National Gallery of Art fit the bill. With New Year’s Eve vibes and the bride’s birthday in the mix, guests needed to feel the party energy from the moment they walked into the wedding Maketto. We incorporated some holiday glitz, including a disco ball chandelier over the dance floor that ended up bringing a party-all-night-vibe. An Asian-fusion menu, posters from concerts the couple had been to together, and the groom’s favorite movie, Cocktail, playing on VHS (a natural fit amongst the retro VHS collection that Maketto has on hand)? That’s the kind of unexpected magic that made this wedding one for the books.
